Design
This session starts with an introduction to design. It can be an object, a plan or an activity. Design as an object is the end, whereas design as a plan is the beginning of a process. Design as an activity is a strategy to solve problems. Download Ype's slides (pdf 236 Kb).
In design as a plan conditions are created for a lean construction process. In this session a series of related questions are raised. Sigmund Aslesen's contribution focuses on the virtues of modular design in ship building. Download Sigmund's slides (pdf, 236 Kb), Emile Quanjel advocates the idea that designing, consulting and constructing parties should collaborate from the initiative of the design, in order to prevent a Babel-like confusion. Download Emile's slides (pdf, 2.4 Mb).
